The Athletics Department at Hilbert College is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Christopher Krueger as the new head coach for the men’s volleyball program.
John Czarnecki, director of athletics at Hilbert, is excited for
the Hawk volleyball players and the program as they move into a new
era of competition.
“Chris is a young, talented individual who possesses the
potential to be an exceptional college head coach”, said
Czarnecki. “Becoming a collegiate head coach for the
first time can be very intimidating, but I have full confidence
that Chris will come out organized, prepared, and eager for the
responsibility of leading a Division III program. His ability
and desire to recruit will build our program as we join the North
Eastern Athletic Conference as affiliate members in 2015.”
Krueger will use his previous experience both as a player and
assistant coach to mold the Hawks' program. “My goal is
to elevate Hilbert to new levels of team success by pulling from my
experiences as a collegiate player and coach”, said Krueger.
“My passion for volleyball and my coaching background will
help me interact with current and future players as I begin to
build the program”.
Krueger returns to the Hamburg area after graduating from Hamburg
High School in 2009. He recently served as an assistant coach for
both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at
D’Youville College during the 2013-14 academic year.
While there, he assisted in day-to-day operations in the gym and
helped administratively prepare and keep both teams current in
Division III volleyball.
Krueger also balanced his time as a Wellness Coach/Personal Trainer
at the Southtowns Family YMCA (West Seneca, NY) and as a Team
Sports Lead Associate at Dick’s Sporting Goods (Orchard
Park). In both of these positions, the Hamburg native
supervised, trained and educated his customers and his associates
so that they could reach their full potential.
Krueger was twice honored as a 2nd Team Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men’s volleyball player (2012
and 2013). He earned an AMCC Player of the Week honor as a
senior and received D’Youville College’s Spartan Award.
Krueger was a member of D’Youville’s
S.A.A.C. and also volunteered at the Southtowns Volleyball Club for
three seasons during his undergraduate years.
Krueger received a bachelor of science degree in exercise and
sports studies from D’Youville College in 2013.
