
By the conclusion of the first round of the two-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, held at Butler Country Club on Monday, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team holds down the top spot on the team leaderboard.
The Lions shot 312 as a team to rank atop the pack after a cool and rainy day of play. Mount Aloysius College is in second place with 320, and Pitt-Greensburg rounds out the top three with 321.
Mount Aloysius freshman Josh Nicholl recorded the overall low score for the day, shooting a 1-over par 72 to finish the round in first place out of 40 individuals. Pitt-Greensburg sophomore Anthony Treonze sits in second place individually, with a 4-over par, 75. Finshing out the top three is Penn State Altoona sophomore Andrew Bruce who carded the Lion's low score on the day, shooting 5-over par, 76. Lion teammate Peter Nusbaum ended day one in fourth place, after scoring 6-over par with a 77. Pitt-Greensburg junior Zachary Abdallah rounded out the top five with a 7-over par, 78.
The second and final day of the AMCC Championships is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15, with tee times scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
