PENN STATE ALTOONA IN LEAD AFTER DAY ONE OF AMCC MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIOSHIP

By the conclusion of the first round of the two-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, held at Indiana Country Club on Monday, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team held the top spot on the team leaderboard.

The Lions shot 300 as a team to rank atop the pack after a cool and breezy day of play. Pitt-Greensburg was in second place with 318, and Mount Aloysius College and Penn State Behrend were tied for third with 330.

Penn State Altoona's Trey Heffelfinger had the overall low score for the day, shooting an even-par 71 to finish the round in first place out of 44 individuals. Altoona's Peter Nusbaum held second place individually, firing 3-over par, 74.

Pitt-Greensburg's Anthony Treonze and Ashton Beighley finished day one in third and fourth places, turning in scores of 75 and 76, respectively.

Altoona's Jack Ankeny carded a season-best score, shooting 77 to rank in fifth place by the end of the round while Jack DiTrani  shot 78 to finish the day in sixth.

Jake Caldwell led Penn State Behrend with a 79 for seventh place, with Hilbert College's Mike Petrus and Mount Aloysius' Tyle Oakes tying for eighth place with an 80. Pitt-Bradford's Connor Smith and Brody Kamuda rounded out the top 10, both shooting an 81. 

The second and final day of the AMCC Championships is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10, with tee times scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
