PENN STATE ALTOONA CLAIMS SIXTH MEN'S GOLF TITLE

Penn State Altoona men’s golf won its sixth AMCC Championship and first conference title since 2010, when the Lions secured the 2021 AMCC title at Butler Country Club after Tuesday’s round.

Penn State Altoona finished with a two-day score of 645, shooting 324 in Monday’s round and 321 in Tuesday’s round to win the championship by a 22-shot margin. Penn State Behrend was the runner-up with 667, and Pitt-Greensburg placed third with 698.

Mount Aloysius College took fourth place with 710, Pitt-Bradford was fifth with 712, and Hilbert College came in sixth with 729. Medaille College was seventh with 780, and La Roche University took eighth with 843.

Penn State Altoona’s Andrew Ferguson was the individual champion, shooting 77 in each round to rank first out of the field of 40 golfers with a two-day score of 154. Penn State Behrend’s Alex Pol came in second individually, shooting 79 each day to finish with 158. Penn State Altoona’s Trey Heffelfinger placed third with scores of 82 and 78 for a combined score of 160.

Pitt-Greensburg’s Joe Doubt took fourth place individually with a two-day score of 167. Hilbert’s Zachary Blount and Penn State Altoona’s Iain Murphy-Herndon and Logan Divald all tied for fifth with 168.

The top five finishers were all named to the All-Tournament Team.

With its win, Penn State Altoona will advance to the NCAA Division III Golf Championship on May 10-13.
