The Westminster College men's golf team hosted the Westminster Invitational Monday afternoon at the New Castle Country Club.
Grove City College won the event with a 315. The medalist was Gage Basiletti from Point Park University who carded a 73 on the day. Pitt-Greensburg junior Javon Trout earned a second place finish after shooting a 74.
The Pitt-Bradford men's golf team finished second out of 15 teams by shooting 317. Penn State Altoona was sixth (323), La Roche College eighth (327), Pitt-Greensburg tied for ninth (332), and Mount Aloysius College rounded out the AMCC teams with an 11th place finish after shooting a 358.
Pitt-Bradford sophomore Matt Moonan put together his strongest round of the season so far and led the team with a 75. Sophomore Jamie Rook shot a 79, and freshman Cary Ignaczak was one stroke behind at 80.
Penn St. Altoona freshman Luke Hoffnagle led the Lions by shooting four-over par, carding a 76 to tie for sixth place individually out of 73 golfers, while sophomore Pongthong Thongyai shot a 77 to tie for ninth place.
La Roche sophomore Tom O'Toole tied for sixth place after carding a 76, and senior Ben Mullins finished just one shot back of O'Toole, tying for seventh.
In addition to Trout's second place finish, Pitt-Greensburg freshman Nic Leone and senior Jacob Bywalski fired solid rounds for Pitt-Greensburg totaling an 84 and 85 respectively.
