MATLOCK LEADS BEHREND AT NCAA MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Penn State Behrend men's golf team shot a 343 on day two of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships hosted by Guilford at the Grandover Resort on Wednesday.

As a team, the Lions carded a 659 (+83) to finish in 40th place for the championships. The Lions season comes to an end with the top 18 advancing to the next round.

Ryan Matlock, competing in his third NCAA Championships, led Behrend with a two-day total of 160 (77-83). He was able to birdie two holes to finish with a 41 on the front and 42 on the back for day two to end tied for 153.

Mark Peters was second on the team and tied for 161st overall with an 82 today, combined with a 79 yesterday for a 161. He fired a 41 on the first nine holes and back nine for a +17 for the championships.

Carding an 87 on the day for third on the team and 189th overall was Noah Kunst. Kunst tallied a 43-44 on day two of 167. Sean Sculley and Jack Perfett were fourth and fifth on the team. Overall, they registered at tied for 207 and 215, respectively. Sculley fired a 92 today to go with a 173.

Perfett was +43 for his first chance at nationals. He shot a 91 today with a 46 on the front and 45 on the back. His two-day total was 187.
