The Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed ninth out of 13 teams at the two-day Mercyhurst Fall Invitational at Lake View Country Club on Sunday and Monday.
The Lions had two teams competing against Division II schools. Behrend tallied a 306 on the first day and then 318 today for a 622 total and ninth overall. The second squad tallied a 333 and then fired a 316 for a 649 score and 11th place overall.
Senior Sean Sculley led the Lions with a combined score of 152. He tallied a 73 on Sundayand then fired a 79 today. Senior Ryan Matlock recorded a 78 each day for a 156 and second on the team.
Also playing on the first team was freshman Jack Perfett, senior Alex Shindledecker and senior JT Kuchnicki. Perfett carded a 159 total, shooting an 83 and coming back with a 76 today. Shindledecker was fourth on the team with a 162 (79-83) and Kuchnicki rounded out the team with a 164 (76-88).
Leading the second team was sophomore Mark Peters. The sophomore tallied an 82-76 for a combined 158. Junior Noah Kunst carded an 82 on the first day and a 78 today for a 160. Junior Teddy Russell had the third-best scored for the invitational with a 165 (83-82), while junior Zac McCue fired a 166 for two days (86-80).
Freshman Daniel Thomas was the fifth golfer for the second team, carding an 89-84 for a 173.
