PENN ST. ALTOONA GOLF DEFEATS WILSON IN DUAL MEET

Penn State Altoona golf picked its 2016-2017 season back up on Monday afternoon, facing non-conference Wilson College in a dual meet at Chambersburg Country Club. The Lions prevailed comfortably, winning 349-470.

The event was Penn State Altoona's first since the final day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships on October 10. It also marked the first half of a home-and-home dual meet series with Wilson this spring.

Sophomore Adam Osborne shot a 78 on the par 73 course. The score was his second-best of the season, leading the Lions and all nine players in Monday's meet.

Freshman Chris Michelone was second on his squad with an 88, and sophomore Carl Gelardi shot 89 to rank third. Freshmen Clayton Hagenbuch carded a 94, and Matt Kruparounded out the Lions' five with a 96.

In women's golf action, freshman Claudia Ochoa competed for Penn State Altoona and shot 105. The event marked her sixth round of the season and her first since the AMCC Championships on October 10.

Penn State Altoona golf has one more spring date to finish off its 2016-2017 season. The men's and women's golf squad will host Wilson next Tuesday, April 25 at the Lions' home course, Sinking Valley Country Club. That dual meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
