AMCC MEN'S GOLF: CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

The AMCC is embarking on its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 academic year. Since 1997 there have been many outstanding teams and individual student-athletes who have risen to the top of their sports.  We are honored to recognize and highlight some of those accomplishments throughout this anniversary year.

Penn State Behrend, winners of the past five men's golf championships, boast a league-leading seven conference titles. Penn State Altoona is right behim them with five team championships. 2015 Behrend graduate Dante Vetica and 2003 La Roche College graduate Josh Haas are the only two-time players of the year in men's golf.

In 2012, Vetica was named AMCC Golfer of the Year and was a first team all-conference selection. He won the individual medalist honors at the conference championship, placing first with a two-day score of 146. Vetica carded his lowest round of 72 on the first day of the AMCC Tournament and averaged 77.7 for the season. He also finished in the top five in five out of eight events. After a repeat performance as medalist at the AMCC championship in 2013, Vetica was once again named the AMCC Golfer of the Year. In addition to winning the AMCC individual title, Vetica also won three other tournaments while posting a standout 75.4 stroke average.

In 2001, Haas won the AMCC Championship and was a first team all-conference selection. He averaged a score of 78.6 over 15 tournaments.  Haas was again named golfer of the year in 2002 after he averaged a 79.7 over 14 tournaments.
