The Penn State Behrend men's golf team had three of the five golfers in the Top 10 to take the lead with a score of 320 after the first day of the AMCC Championships held at Avalon Lakes & Country Club on Sunday.
The Lions hold a 12 stroke lead over second place Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats tallied a 332 along with Penn State Altoona. Pitt-Bradford sits fourth at 345 and Medaille is fifth with a team score of 347.
Sophomore Alex Shindledecker paces Behrend and the field of 44 golfers with a low score of 77 for the course. Behrend junior Cody Stinson is tied for second with senior Zach Spicer of Pitt-Bradford with a 78.
Pitt-Greensburg freshman, and current AMCC Player of the Week, Javon Trout sits in fourth place with a 79.
Tied at fifth place with scores of 81 are La Roche sophomores Ben Mullins and Tyler Booher, Penn St. Altoona freshman Adam Osborne, and Pitt-Greensburg senior Zach Berkstresser.
AMCC golfers return to action tomorrow for the second day of the AMCC Championships.
