BENDER NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN

Mount Aloysius College senior basketball player Dillon Bender picked up a huge honor as he was named to the 2015-2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division III Men's Basketball Team on Tuesday afternoon.

Bender, who was selected as a First Team Academic All-District honoree by the organization on February 11, was named a Second Team Academic All-American for his prowess on the court and in the classroom. Only 15 men's basketball players from the Division III level from throughout the country were chosen for the honor.

The senior guard led the Mounties and finished fourth among all conference players in the AMCC with 17.8 points per game. He led the conference with 87 three-point field goals made and ranked ninth in three-point percentage as he shot 38.7 percent from behind the arc. Bender also shot 84.7 percent from the foul line, good for fourth among all AMCC players, and finished third on the team with 20 steals on the defensive end. He scored his 1000th career point for the Mounties midway through his senior season.

In the classroom, Bender has registered a 3.98 cumulative GPA as a Business major. He has been a consistent Dean's List student at Mount Aloysius College and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete honor society, as well as the Academic All-Conference team.
