BEHREND'S HACKETT LEADS MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS

Penn State Behrend senior forward Zane Hackett has been named the 2016 AMCC Player of the Year. Hackett finished the season with 16 double-doubles, good enough for eighth in the nation. He led the AMCC, and was eighth in Division III, with a 62.9 field goal percentage, and finished the season fifth in the AMCC scoring with 16.8 points per game. Hackett was also third in the conference with 10.7 rebounds per game. 

Hilbert College senior forward Jerame Owens is the AMCC Defensive Player of the Year. Owens led the AMCC in steals (60), finished second in defensive rebounds (200), and second in blocks (34). On the national level, Owens ranks 27th in steals per game (2.33), 17th in total steals (63), and 14th in defensive rebounds per game (8.0). For his collegiate career, Owens is Hilbert College's all-time leader in defensive rebounds (777), defensive rebound average (7.3), blocked shots (147), steals (202), and steals averaged (1.9). 

Penn St. Behrend freshman guard Andy Niland  has been selected as the Newcomer of the Year. Niland led the AMCC in three-point field goal percentage (44.1%), was  third in league assists (89), and seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1). Niland was also second in the AMCC, and ninth in the nation, with a 91.8 free throw percentage.

Men's basketball Coach of the Year honors goes to La Roche's Hermie Charmichael after he led the Redhawks to an incredible turnaround season. After finishing the 2014-15 season with one conference win and a last place finish, the Redhawks secured the #4 seed in the conference tournament with a 12-6 league record.
