FORMER BEHREND STANDOUT ASSIGNED TO GRAND JUNCTION ROCKIES

Former Penn State Behrend right-handed pitcher Chad Zurat has been assigned to the Grand Junction Rockies, a rookie affiliate of the Major League Baseball Colorado Rockies organization.

"I'm very excited to get another season underway," said second year pro, Chad Zurat.  "I'm hoping everything I learned and the development I've made throughout the spring can carry over and lead to a successful season."

Last season, Zurat signed a free-agent contract with the Rockies Single-A team, the Tri-City Dust Devils. The 6-2, 215 pound pitcher was active on the roster the final 50 games of the season. Zurat logged 10 appearances while registering a 1-0 mark with 19 K's in 21 innings of work.

The 2015 season begins for Grand Junction on Friday, June 19 at 7:15 p.m.  The Rockies travel to Idaho Falls, and face the Kansas City Royals Rookie Affiliate.

Zurat, a Clearfield native, was a three-time All-AMCC choice and was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region team in 2012. He finished his career with the program's lowest ERA (2.40) in 150 innings tossed and is second in all-time saves with 17.
