La Roche College won the AMCC baseball championship for the
second time in three years, defeating Pitt-Greensburg, 11-7.
The top seeded Redhawks (30-13) won three straight games in the
tournament, all behind complete game pitching of a trio of
aces: Cole Lentz in game 1, Tyler Ferguson in game 2, and
Jesse Bauer in game 3.
After losing to La Roche on day one, the #4 seed
Pitt-Greensburg eliminated #3 Mount Aloysius on day two and #2
seed Penn St. Behrend, 5-1, on Sunday morning before facing
the Redhawks in the championship tilt. It was a seesaw battle
of bats between the two clubs, with La Roche not securing its
final lead until the 8th inning.
The Redhawks, ranked #6 in the Mideast region, received the AMCC's
automatic bid to the NCAA Division III
tournament. Regional tournament pairings will
be announced on Monday.
