BEHREND WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

The York College (PA) women's tennis team defeated Penn State Behrend 5-1 in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships held at Washington & Lee University on Friday morning.

The Spartans took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, claiming No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Erica Jasinski and Audra Carnes won 8-7 at No. 2 doubles, claiming a 7-2 decision in the tiebreaker for the final point. Brianna Rohrer of York posted a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles, before Morrisey Walsh defeated Sarah Howard at No. 5 singles for the 4-1 lead in the match. Chloe Doyle secured the win at No. 4 singles, posting a 6-4, 6-3 win against Carnes. Emma Martin and Marissa Bowles were in a tiebreaker sets at No. 6 and 2 singles, respectively, while Jasinski was ahead at No. 1 singles before the match was halted.
