AMCC WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF ON SATURDAY

The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. Top seed Pitt-Greensburg will take on No. 4 La Roche University at 3:30pm, while No. 2 Penn State Behrend will face No. 3 Penn State Altoona in the night cap. Please note that spectators will not be permitted at the championship tournament. The top-seeded Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (5-0) boast three players with perfect 5-0 records in conference singles play. #1 Emily Ruhlman, #3 Abigail Rosman, and #4 Cathryn Rossi have all made it through the regular season undefeated. Ruhlman and Rosman have teamed up as the #2 doubles pair and have also gone undefeated in doubles play with a 5-0 record. 

Penn State Behrend enters the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed with a 4-1 conference record. Freshman Sara Howard went 5-0 at the #5 and #6 singles spot, while freshman Audra Carnes also picked up a perfect 5-0 record, splitting time between #4 and #5 singles. Howard and sophomore Rachel Weber teamed up to go 4-0 at #3 doubles.

With a 2-3 record in conference play, the Penn State Altoona Lions are the No 3. seed. #1 singles player Jessica Stevens has led the way for the Lions, as she went 4-1 on the season, while sophomore Elani Etter went 3-0 in the #6 singles spot. In doubles play, #1 Jessica Stevens and Victoria Acker picked up a 3-0 record against AMCC teams. 

The La Roche University women’s tennis team rounds out the AMCC playoff field at the number four seed with a 2-3 conference record. Senior Rochelle Selzer was a perfect 4-0 against the AMCC at second singles during the regular season. Freshman Isabella Lane went 3-1 at third singles against the AMCC. Lane stepped up to play second singles in the Penn St. Altoona match and won to finish 4-1 overall in conference singles action.

The winners of Saturday's matches will square off on Sunday at 1:30pm for the AMCC Championship.
