#1 PITT-GREENSBURG, #2 PENN ST. BEHREND TO MEET FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP

#1 Pitt-Greensburg and #2 Penn State Behrend advance to Sunday's AMCC Championship Match, as each team picked up a semifinal victory this afternoon at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. The Bobcats earned a 5-1 victory over La Roche University, while the Lions defeated Penn State Altoona, also by the score of 5-1.

The Bobcats got off to a strong start, picking up wins at both #2 and #3 doubles. Emily Ruhlman and Abigail Rosman remained undefeated on the season, improving to 6-0 as the duo cruised to an 8-0 victory, while Kelsey Murphy and Stephanie Pantelas won in the #3 spot, 8-2. Leading 2-1 after doubles play, Pitt-Greensburg dominated in singles play, quickly securing the fifth team point to pick up the win. Ruhlman allowed just one point in a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles, while Rosman rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win in the #3 spot and Cathryn Rossi won 6-1, 6-1 in the #4 spot.

After a 2-1 lead in doubles, the Behrend Lions only needed to win three of the six singles to punch their ticket to the championship. Audra Carnes and Erica Jasinski were one of the two doubles teams securing a win for the early lead. The duo posted an 8-2 win while Rachel Weber and Sara Howard pushed the lead to 2-1 with an 8-4 #3 doubles victory. Carnes and Howard completed their singles matches, winning 6-2, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-1 at the #4 and 5 spots, respectively. Marissa Bowles also picked up a match point with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at #2 singles.

Pitt-Greensburg and Penn State Behrend will square off tomorrow at 1:30pm.

Pitt-Greensburg advances to the AMCC Championship match for just the second time in program history (2015) and is looking to capture the program's first ever tournament title. Penn State Behrend is looking for its 14th AMCC title.
