#4 D'YOUVILLE, #6 PENN ST. ALTOONA ADVANCE TO WOMEN'S TENNIS SEMIFINALS

 #4 D'Youville College and #6 Penn State Altoona each picked up first round victories to advance to the AMCC women's tennis championship tournament semifinal round. The Spartans and Lions will advance to the AMCC Tournament semifinal round next Saturday, October 19 at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. D'Youville will face #1 Franciscan University, while Penn St. Altoona will clash with #2 Medaille College

#4 D'Youville 5, #5 Pitt-Bradford 1
The D'Youville Spartans picked up a 5-1 victory in women's tennis first round action when they defeated the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. 

D'Youville got on the board early, winning two of three doubles matches to open the day. Lauren Karoglan and Alisson Meissner earned an 8-1 victory at #1 doubles, while Amanda Waliszewski and Lexi Dickson got won 8-5 at #2 doubles.

The Spartans then got singles wins from Karoglan, Meissner, and Dena Iadanza to close out the first round victory.


#6 Penn State Altoona 5, #3 Mount Aloysius 4

No. 6 seed Penn State Altoona pulled out a tight win in its first round tournament match on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 3 seed Mount Aloysius College 5-4 at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Penn State Altoona started Saturday's match by winning two out of three in doubles to secure a 2-1 lead. The Lady Lions got doubles victories from Victoria Acker and Sophia Girol at the No. 2 spot, and also at No. 3 doubles from Grace Butz and Katie Kruza

Mount Aloysius and Penn State Altoona split singles play, which included three matches that went into tiebreakers – two of which were won by the Lady Lions. Altoona singles victories went to Girol, Alivia Serenita, and Butz, who provided the match-winning point by pulling out a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 victory in No. 6 singles, helping to send Penn State Altoona to the AMCC semifinals.
