BEHREND WOMEN CAPTURE AMCC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team won their 12th overall AMCC Championship on Saturday and finished second overall in the AMCC Empire Meet held at the Webster Aquatic Center.

The Behrend Lions won their first AMCC title since the 2018-19 season. The Lions won three individual events on the day to seal the championship. Marcella Puglia finished her career as a three-time champion in the 1650 freestyle, finishing with a time of 18:38.67. Emma Webster got her second gold medal of the championships, winning the 200 backstroke in 2:11.36. In the 200 breaststroke, Barbie Cessar joined Puglia in the three-peat, as she has claimed the 200 breaststroke three years in a row, clocking in at 2:29.42 for gold. Aliya Webster managed a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:29.21 before joining Puglia, Cessar, and Nadzam in the final 400 freestyle relay. The foursome had a second-place time of 3:45.57 to complete the four-day championships.

Alfred State College's Madison Snayczuk finished first among AMCC teams in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 54.04. Pioneer Sarah Streeter was the top AMCC diver in the 3m, earning a total of 274.00 points. 

Penn State Altoona's Grace Dangelo recorded an AMCC first place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:22.22, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Avery Heisey, Dangelo, Sarah Petry, and Madison Coleman clocked in at 3:43.43.

The AMCC Swimmer of the Meet award goes to Penn State Altoona's Grace Dangelo, while Alred State's Sarah Streeter was the AMCC Diver of the Meet. Nazareth University head coach Chris Heckman was named the Coach of the Meet.
