MORE RECORDS FALL AS BEHREND EXPANDS LEAD IN SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

As records continue to shatter, Penn St. Behrend's men and women extended their leads at the AMCC Swimming and Diving Championship Thursday evening.

Through 14 events of the championships, the Behrend women sit in first place with a team total of 238.5 points, followed by Cabrini College in second with 167.5 and Alfred State College in third (142).
 
The Lions were led by junior Maryn Horn, who set four new records in the preliminaries of the 50 free, breaking the team, pool, AMCC meet and AMCC open records with a time of 24.24.  Horn also broke four more records in relays.  

Other top finishers included Cabrini senior Christina Melchiorre in the 500 free (5:17.93) and Behrend Behrend junior Gwen Lowery in the 200 IM (2:12.79).
The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team is in first place out of five teams.  
The Lions have accumulated 290 points through 14 events to hold a significant lead over second-place Alfred State with 157. Pitt-Bradford sits in third with a team total of 151.
Over the first two days, Behrend broke nine records, with sophomore Mark Patterson having a hand in all of them.  Patterson won the 500 freestyle, shattering multiple records with a time of 4:40.49. He set the team and pool records, the AMCC meet and open record in a time that was 10 seconds faster than in the preliminaries.
Senior teammate Nick Kost also constributed an individual event win with a time of 1:54.85 in the 200 IM, while Pitt-Bradford freshman Nick Boyd took first place in the 50 free (22:12).
AMCC newcomer Alfred State dominated the first day of diving finals.  Freshman Sarah Stevens scored 188.35 points on the women's 1-meter board. In the men's 3-meter diving, freshman Nick Beach took top honors with a total score of 211.05 points.
