BEHREND WOMEN CLAIM BACK-TO-BACK TITLES; LOWERY AND WATTERSON SHARE HIGH-POINT HONORS

In true championship fashion, it came down to the final 400 free relay event to crown a champion of the 2016 AMCC meet held at Grove City on Saturday.

The Lions claimed their ninth AMCC Championship with a first-place finish by sophomore Gwendolyn Lowery, sophoore Maryn Horn, junior Allie Schneider and freshman Jessica Wyckoff in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:42.84. This finish broke a five-year old AMCC open, AMCC meet and school record. 

With the relay win, Behrend finished with 237 points to edge out Cabrini by eight points (229). Pitt-Bradford came in third with 116 points and Penn St. Altoona was fourth (105). Franciscan took the final place with a team score of 49.

Junior Anna Rose Watterson and Lowery tied for the AMCC Championships highest-point getter with 27. 

In addition to the relay, Watterson claimed gold in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:58.09. In the 200 backstroke, Schneider took first place with a winning time of 2:22.60.
