PITT-BRADFORD SWIM TEAMS HOST SPECIAL OLYMPIANS

After a late night arrival from competing in the AMCC Championships over the weekend, the Pitt-Bradford men's and women's swim teams back in the water assisting with the Special Olympics that were held at the Paul C. Duke Aquatics Center.

Swimmers Andrew Koenig and Matt Cox were the two primary coaches for the day. One stayed in the shallow area of the pool and one in the deeper waters. Each Panther has taken part in this event for the past two years.  In all, 10 swimmers plus Pitt-Bradford’s assistant coach Melinda Mackenzie showed up to take part in the event.

The Panthers had various stations set up depending on the skill level of the individual. In the shallow end, the coaches concentrated on having the Olympians enter the water and assisted them while floating on the surface of the water.  The coaches in the deeper water had activities that involved more from the Olympians, while also giving them the freedom to swim further on their own.
