PENN ST. BEHREND SWIM TEAM SUPPORTS COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's swimming and diving team collected donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank on Tuesday, November 26 at their home meet against Gannon, beginning at 5 p.m.

In an effort to give back to Erie County, the Lions collected food or monetary donations at the door.

The mission of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is to distribute food to hungry people and eliminate the waste of food.  In 1982, the first year of operation, Second Harvest distributed 444,916 pounds of food to 40 agencies. During fiscal year 2012-13, Second Harvest distributed 11.4 million pounds of food to 285 member agencies and 135 distribution sites for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for low-income seniors
