PITT-GREENSBURG EARNS TOP SEED AS WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF

The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team went undefeated in conference play and clinched the top seed for the upcoming AMCC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Bobcats finished the regular season without a loss, as they went 7-0 in AMCC action and secured home field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. First round games kick off this Saturday when #3 Alfred State College hosts #6 Mount Aloysius College and #5 Hilbert College will travel to #4 Penn State Altoona. #1 Pitt-Greensburg and #2 Penn State Behrend will each receive first round byes. 

The top-seeded Bobcats enter the tournament with an undefeated record and boast the top two goal scorers in the conference. Freshman F/M Megan Hickey  and senior F Ashley Lucas lead the AMCC with 17 goals a piece. Lucas also tops the conference with nine assists and 43 points, in addition to setting the Pitt-Greensburg program record this season with career goals scored. The Bobcats also feature two of the top goalkeepers in the league, as well. Sophomore Paige John leads the conference with five goals against, a 0.67 goals-against-average, and an .861 save percentage. Freshman Hailey Kepner ranks second in the AMCC with seven goals against, a 0.70 goals-against-average, and ranks third with an .829 save percentage. 

Entering the tournament with a 6-1 record is No. 2 Penn State Behrend. Sophomore F Trinity Prestash leads the Lions, and ranks third in the AMCC, with 12 goals on the year. Freshman F Lizzie Hoff is tied for third in the conference with six assists. Senior GK Morgan Harding has recorded 49 saves and carries a 2.18 goals-against-average. 

Alfred State, with a 4-3 conference mark, enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed. Senior F Jena Schelble leads the Pioneer attack with five goals while sophomore M Madison Kice has two assists on the season. Sophomore GK Giana DiMora ranks fourth in the conference with a .760 save percentage and a 1.65 goals-against-average.

The No. 4 seed in the tournament is Penn State Altoona with a 3-2-2 record in conference play. Junior F Mallorie Smith ranks fourth in the conference with 10 goals, while freshman D Dee Dee Abbott is tied for third in the league with six assists. Sophomore GK Adeline Baustert has recorded 69 saves on the season with a 1.56 goals-against-average. 

No. 5 Hilbert went 3-3-1 in conference play and has earned its first playoff appearance in six years. Junior M Grace Zabawa ranks fifth in the conferene with nine goals and is second with seven assists. Freshman GK Hailey Kuder's 73 saves are third-best in the league. 

Rounding out the tournament field with a record of 1-4-2 is No. 6 Mount Aloysius. Sophomore M Jasmine Hinton has six goals and two assists on the season. Junior GK Courtney Vought has recorded 53 saves, while sophomore GK Mallory Woodward carries a .750 save percentage and 48 saves.

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 29, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 2, with the championship game on Saturday, November 5.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at Kerr Stadium in Salem, VA on December 2-4.
