AMCC WOMEN'S SOCCER: CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

The AMCC is embarking on its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 academic year. Since 1997 there have been many outstanding teams and individual student-athletes who have risen to the top of their sports.  We are honored to recognize and highlight some of those accomplishments throughout this anniversary year.

Penn State Behrend has been a dominant force in women's soccer since the inception of the conference. The Lions have won 12 of the 20 conference titles, including six straight since 2011.

Former Pitt-Bradford forward Melissa Smith was a two-time AMCC Offensive Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. Smith was a scoring phenom in her first season for the Panthers, leading the league with 26 goals and 57 points and was recognized as both Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. She followed that up in 2014 when she ran away with the league scoring title, racking up 71 points on 30 goals and 11 assists.

Former AMCC member Frostburg State University picked up five straight championships from 2001-2005. The Bobcats were led by Karen Kotofski who picked up top honors in 2003 and 2004 when she was named AMCC Player of the Year during her junior and senior seasons. She was also a four-time first team all-conference honoree and a three-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region award winner.
