PITT BRADFORD AND FRANCISCAN AIM FOR FIRST AMCC WOMEN'S SOCCER TITLE

Pitt-Bradford has earned the top seed in the 2014 AMCC women’s soccer championship tournament for the first time in program history, and will enter the competition with an 8-1 record. The Panthers are led by three-time AMCC Offensive Player of the Week Melissa Smith. Smith leads the conference and is sixth in the nation in total goals scored with 28. She also ranks first in the AMCC with 66 points and is tied for first in assists with ten.

Franciscan (8-1), with an identical conference record, looks to claim their first AMCC title.  The Barons, seeded #2, are led by Julie Cocozza, who ranks third in the AMCC with nine assists and is 10th with seven goals.

Three-time defending AMCC champions and #3 seed Penn St. Behrend (7-2) is aiming for their fourth consecutive crown and 10th overall. Offensively, Behrend is led by Olivia Belack and Alex Bilka, who are tied for third in the AMCC in goals scored with 11 apiece.  Additionally, Belack is first in the AMCC with 10 assists and second with 32 points, while Bilka is fourth in the conference with 26 points.

Medaille, with a 6-3 conference record, enters as the fourth seed. The Lady Mavs are led by goalkeeper Morgan Howe who ranks first in the conference with a .841 save percentage and is fifth in saves with 90.

D’Youville enters the tournament with a 4-5 conference record and the #5 seed.  The Spartans will be looking to goalkeeper Catie Giebner, who ranks third in the AMCC in goals against with 14, to make some key saves throughout the tournament.

La Roche rounds out the tournament with the #6 seed and a 3-5-1 record.  Offensively, Vanessa Ceravolo leads the Redhawks and is second in the AMCC with 12 goals and ranks third in the conference with 26 points.

Pitt-Bradford and Franciscan will receive first-round byes. The first round games will take place on Saturday, November 1, with the semifinals will being played on Wednesday, November 5, and the AMCC championship game taking place on Saturday, November 8.  The tournament winner will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
