PENN ST. BEHREND FACES BRANDEIS IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team will be making its fourth straight and seventh overall appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend. The Lions will travel to Misericorida University in Dallas, PA to face the Brandeis Judges on Saturday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in first-round action.

The Lions (16-5-1) earned the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's (AMCC) automatic bid into the 64-team tournament after winning their fourth consecutive title and 10th conference crown. Behrend enters the tournament being ranked seventh in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Poll. The Judges (12-4-2) finished sixth in the University Athletic Association (UAA), but rank third in the most recent NCAA New England Regional Poll.

Brandeis posted 11 shutouts this season and set a school record for fewest goals allowed during a regular season with nine.

The other first-round match will feature Misericordia (17-2-1) and Cabrini (14-6-0), beginning at 5 p.m. The winners will play each other in a second-round match at 5 p.m. on Sunday hosted by Misericordia to determine who advances to the NCAA Sectionals.

Behrend earned the No. 3 seed for the AMCC Tournament and defeated No. 6 La Roche 4-1, before defeating Franciscan 6-1 in the conference semifinals. The Lions then posted a 2-1 decision over Pitt-Bradford for the championship on Saturday.

It will be the first time Behrend and Brandeis will play each other in program history. The Lions have also never faced Cabrini or Misericordia.
