AMBER HILL NAMED HILBERT COLLEGE HEAD WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH

Hilbert College athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Amber Hill as the next womens lacrosse head coach.  The Niagara Falls resident has strategically blended her diverse background as a collegiate and international player, a collegiate head coach, and a womens lacrosse game official with her grassroots community involvement all with an eye of advancing women in action.

Hill brings a depth of experience to the Hawks lacrosse program as both a coach and competitive athlete and it is her goal to develop a deep roster and competitive program.   She grew up on the Tuscarora Reservation in Lewiston, N.Y., and after graduating from Niagara Wheatfield High School, transitioned to Syracuse University where she earned a Political Science degree from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs with a double minor in Legal Studies and Native Studies.

Hill earned a few honors during her three-year lacrosse career at Syracuse.  She was named the 2007 Big East Most Valuable Player Award as a starting goalie, earned a spot on the Big East Academic All-Conference team besides the SU Athletic Directors Honor Roll list, and currently maintains her high ranking in the Syracuse womens lacrosse All-Time record book.  She currently ranks #2 in Single Season Saves (193) and #3 in Career Save Percentage (.511).

Hill, an L2 womens lacrosse official ready to cover college-level competition, served as Niagara Universitys head coach for their womens lacrosse program during the 2011-12 academic year while still finding time to train and compete internationally.

Since 2006, Hill has been the Haudenosaunee Nationals captain and has competed in four World Lacrosse World Championships.  She has also competed at the highest level for women’s box lacrosse in the Ontario Womens Box Lacrosse League winning two gold medals, as well as helped the Six Nations Snipers in the Women’s Arena Lacrosse League win a gold medal in 2018, and signed a professional contract to play for the Long Island Sound in the United Womens Lacrosse League in 2019.

Currently, Hill sits on the Niagara Arts and Cultural Board of Directors, is the Director of Public Relations and Communications for the Haudenosaunee Nationals Board of Directors, and is the Chair for the Niagara Falls Human Rights Commission. She was recently appointed to the World Lacrosse Women’s Box Lacrosse Working group by World Lacrosse President Sue Redfern charged with bringing the game of women’s box lacrosse to the international stage, as well as the World Lacrosse Box Lacrosse Rules SubCommittee.
