FRANCISCAN'S BAIN NAMED IWLS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Franciscan University junior goalie Brittany Bain earned her first weekly award of the season as she was named the Independent Women's Lacrosse Schools (IWLS) Defensive Player of the Week, Wednesday afternoon.

Bain opened her junior season with 30 saves in the first two games of the season. The Lexington Park, MD native finished the week with an impressive 67% of the shots she faced and helped the Franciscan women's lacrosse team to a 1-1 week. In the Lady Barons' 16-5 win, Bain posted a .750 save percentage. Against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, Bain became the all-time saves leader at Franciscan.

Bain reached the milestone in just 18 games as a Lady Baron, averaging 9.67 saves per game, two games faster than her predecessor Savannah Ruhe (2014-16) who held the record previously.

Bain and the Lady Barons are set to host Hilbert on Friday, March 23 at 4:00 pm.
