PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Penn State Altoona F Avana Sayles had an historic week for the Lions as she became just the sixth player in Altoona Lions' women's basketball program history to reach 1,000 career points in her team's victory at Marywood on Wednesday night. In that contest, she finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block. The junior followed that up with 20 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, three blocks, and one assist in the Lions' loss to Alfred U on Saturday afternoon. On the week, Avana averaged 22.5 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 steals per game, 2.0 assists per game, and 2.0 blocks per game. The double-doubles were her third and fourth of the season.

 

BEST OF THE REST: Penn State Behrend G Rachel Majewski averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a 2-0 week, scoring a season-high 26 points in a road win over La Roche...Alfred State G Kirsten Merritt led the way for the Pioneers in their lone game of the week against Buffalo State with a strong 15 point and three assists outing...La Roche F Dasja Anderson stood out with a double-double performance of 14 points and 14 rebounds in a loss to Behrend...Pitt-Bradford G Amber Murak helped lead the Panthers to a win over Hilbert, making 6 of 9 from beyond the arc to score 18 points...Hilbert G Kayla Johnson averaged 12.0 ppg in two games, including a season-high 17 points against Buffalo State.
