BEHREND WOMEN COMPLETE PERFECT REGULAR SEASON, EARNING TOP SEED IN PLAYOFFS

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team went 16-0 in conference play and was named AMCC regular season champions, earning the top seed and hosting rights in the 2025 AMCC women's basketball championship tournament. First round games tip off Tuesday evening with #3 Mount Aloysius College hosting #6 Pitt-Bradford and #4 Penn State Altoona hosting #5 Alfred State College. #1 Behrend and #2 La Roche University will each receive first round byes. Tournament semifinals will take place at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center on Friday evening with the championship game set for Saturday at 3pm. 

After registering their first-ever undefeated regular season, Penn State Behrend is looking to defend the conference title they won a season ago. The Lions are led by senior guard Rachel Majewski and junior guard Morgan Altavilla, two of the top three scorers in the AMCC. Majewski leads the conference with 19.3 points per game in AMCC play, while also topping the conference with an 81.4% free throw percentage. Altavilla is third in the conference with 16.8 points per game, while also ranking second in conference play with 69 assists. Freshman forward Alaina Fabin has had a strong rookie campaign for the Lions, averaging 10.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, while junior guard Madilyn Boyer contributes 12.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

La Roche enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed with a 14-2 record. The Redhawks are looking to claim another conference title, as they won three straight championships before falling in last year's championship game to the Behrend Lions. La Roche is led offensively by senior guard/forward Alexis Robison who averages 15.3 points per game to along with 4.1 rebounds, while senior forward Dasja Anderson adds 13.1 points and 6.7 rebounds. Junior guard Jazmine Dunn leads the AMCC with 5.8 assists per game in conference games, while also contributing 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. 

Entering the championship tournament as the No. 3 seed is 11-5 Mount Aloysius. Defending AMCC Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Molly Kosmack returns for the Mounties, once again averaging a double-double. Kosmack leads the conference with 11.3 rebounds per game, while ranking fifth in conference play with 15.8 points per game. Kosmack leads the conference with a 60.9% shooting percentage and her 26 blocks against AMCC teams are second-best in the league. Sophomore guard Angelina Kohlwaies, who earned D3 National Player of the Week honors earlier this season, adds 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the Mounties. Sophomore guard Annalynn Isaacs averages just under double figures with 9.3 points per game, including a 45% three-point shooting percentage.

Penn State Altoona, with a 10-6 conference mark, is the No. 4 seed in the tournament. The Lions are led by junior forward Avana Sayles, who averages 14.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. Junior guard/forward Jaidyn McCracken adds 11.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Lions while junior guard Jess Burns chips in with 12.4 points per game.

With a 6-10 record in conference play, Alfred State enters as the No. 5 seed. Junior guard Taylor Benjamin leads the Pioneers by averaging a double-double of 13.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, while also adding 2.5 assists and 1.9 steals. Sophomore forward Sarah Somers averages 11.4 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Mary Gibson rounds out the double figure scoreres for the Pioneers, while also averaging a double-double with 11.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Rounding out the field is No. 6 Pitt-Bradford with a 3-13 record in AMCC play. Sophomore guard/forward Paige Gratto leads the Panthers, and ranks second in the conference, with 17.6 points per game, while also adding 8.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Amber Murak adds 14.8 points per game for the Panthers.
