BEHREND WOMEN ADVANCE TO ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The second-seeded Penn State Behrend (21-5) women's basketball team advances to the 2022 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship game with a 77-58 win over Westminster College (18-10) in the semifinals on Wednesday night.

This marks the second straight ECAC Tournament the Lions have knocked out Westminster. The Lions used identical 19-10 quarters to start for a 38-20 lead at the break. The Titans held the scoring advantage in the third, but Behrend registered its most points in a quarter in the fourth. Alanna Dibble hit the 23-point mark for the third time this season to lead the Lions, while also registering her fifth double-double with 10 boards. Rachel Majewski and Brianna Dean each tallied 13 points. As a team, Behrend held a 50-32 edge in rebounds and shot 46.3 percent from the floor while holding Westminster to 36.9 percent shooting. Kara Haslett  was the fourth player with double-digit scoring with 11. The Lions never trailed in the game and scored 48 points in the paint.

The Lions will face No. 4 seed Carnegie Mellon for the championship on Saturday. The Tartans were 77-44 winners over No. 1 Kean in the first semifinal. Game time is 12 p.m.
