LA ROCHE WOMEN TO PLAY UMASS DARTMOUTH IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
The La Roche College women's basketball team is headed to their seventh straight NCAA tournament after earning the automatic bid as champions of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. The Redhawks will travel to Montclair State (NJ) where they will take on UMass Dartmouth in an NCAA tournament first round game.
La Roche is making their seventh straight appearance in the NCAA tournament and their fifth straight under Head Coach Kamela Gissendanner. The Redhawks, a traditional Great Lakes Region team, are headed to an Atlantic Region site for just the first time. La Roche has also played at Calvin, Mt. Union, DePauw), York and Thomas More (twice).
The Redhawks will take on an unfamiliar opponent, matching up with UMass Dartmouth for the first time in school history. The Corsairs earned an at large bid out of the Little East Conference, finishing with a 22-5 overall record and an 11-3 record against the LEC. Three LEC teams are headed to the NCAA Tournament.
The La Roche/UMass Dartmouth winner will take on the winner of Montclair State vs. Westfield State matchup. Montclair State won the NJAC Championship and is making its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Westfield State is the MSCAC champions and making its second straight appearance.
