AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 16

AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week: Franciscan University Barons @ D'Youville College Spartans (Saturday, February 21 - 2:00 p.m.)

The women's basketball Game of the Week has major playoff implications for Franciscan University and D'Youville College. The two teams are battling for the final playoff spot heading into the AMCC Tournament. The Barons came out on top earlier this season, 74-62.

The three-headed scoring attack of senior Lacey Huck, sophomore Illiana Gonzalez, and freshman Sarah Schriner has led Lady Baron basketball to the best record in program history. Franciscan's 7-9 conference record (9-13 overall) puts the team at #6 in the AMCC standings and on the verge of its first post-season appearance. The game could be the last for senior captain Lacey Huck who has been the face of Lady Baron basketball for four years. The three-time All-Conference player is averaging just under 14 ppg and 7.5 rpg, and leads the team in assists. Her efforts have been complimented by All-Conference guard Illiana Gonzalez who leads the team with 14 ppg, and the emergence of freshman guard Sarah Schiner who averages just over 13 ppg.

The D'Youville Spartans enter the game coming off a win over Penn State-Altoona in their last game by the score of 69-59. Senior Bridget Andrews led the team with 18 points and six assists, coming off her historic game against Pitt.-Bradford. Against the Panthers, Andrews scored 11 points to eclipse the 1,000 plateau to become the eighth player in school history to do so. Andrews is the leading scorer on the Spartan squad with 10.3 ppg and the team's leader in assists with 3.3 per game. Last season's leading scorer, junior Alexis Smith, is second on the team with 9.5 ppg and rebounds with 5.5 per game. Sophomore Jean-Ann Korona currently leads the team in rebounds with 6.1 per game and has been one of the consistent young players for D'Youville this season. D'Youville has reached double-digit overall wins for the first time since entering the conference in 2010.
