AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 9

AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week: Pitt-Bradford @ La Roche College (Saturday, February 14 - 1:00 p.m.)

 

Just like on the men's side, the AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week will also feature the the top two teams in the conference, the La Roche Lady Redhawks (17-4, 14-0 AMCC) and the Pitt-Bradford Lady Panthers (14-6, 11-3 AMCC). The Panthers will be traveling to Pittsburgh on Saturday to take on the first place Redhawks. La Roche topped Pitt-Bradford in their first meeting, 71-63, on the Panthers' home court.

La Roche enters Saturday’s game winners of ten straight and with a perfect 14-0 record in the AMCC Conference. The Lady Redhawks can wrap up home-court advantage in the AMCC Tournament and their fifth straight AMCC Regular Season title with a victory on Saturday. Leading the way for the Lady Redhawks is two-time AMCC Player of the Week sophomore Sabrina McLin. McLin leads the AMCC in three-pointers while ranking second in points (18.1 ppg) and third in free throw percentage (82.6%). She has scored in double-figures in ten consecutive games and at least twenty points in 10 of 21 games this season. Senior point guard Shataya White was named AMCC Player of the Week earlier this season and is averaging 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists over her past seven games. 2013-14 AMCC Defensive Player of the Year sophomore Danasha Harris leads the AMCC in steals and ranks twelfth in the nation, while sophomore Mackenzie O’Donnell (14.5 ppg) and senior LaShauna Brothers (14.4 ppg) both rank in the AMCC’s top 10 in points.

The Pitt-Bradford Women’s Basketball Team enters the week with a solid grip on second place in AMCC standings with an 11-3 conference record. The Panthers come into the contest winning 10 of their last 12 games, all against AMCC opponents. After losing earlier in the season at home, Pitt-Bradford looks for revenge as the Lady Panthers go on the road to face top-ranked conference opponent La Roche College. Leading the upset-minded Panthers will be senior Alicia Kimmel, who ranks fourth in the conference in scoring (15.8) and second in FG% (50.8). The Panthers will need a strong performance from emerging freshman Ali Rinfrette, who is averaging double digits in scoring (12.7) and ranks in the top 10 in the conference in FG% (41.5), junior Abby Brate, who ranks third in the conference in steals per game (2.4), and sophomore Kaserra Owens, who ranks eighth in the conference in FG% (42.4) and averages double digits in scoring (10.9).
