PITT BRADFORD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION ON WBCA HONOR ROLL

The Pitt-Bradford women’s basketball team received national recognition on Wednesday, July 23, as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association released its annual Academic Team Honor Roll.

Pitt-Bradford finished 20th in the nation, out of the 431 NCAA Division III members, with an overall team grade point average of 3.495. This marks the first time in the program’s history that the Panthers have been ranked in the top 25 for this award.

Pitt-Bradford is also the first women’s basketball program in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference history to receive the recognition of being ranked among the nation’s best.

The WBCA Academic Team Honor Roll first began after the 2001-02 academic year. Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women’s basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls.

“I am extremely proud of my players for their academic success during the 2013-14 academic year,” said head coach Patrick Daniel. “Our program is built on being successful in the classroom and on the basketball court.”

Daniel went on to say that being named in the top 20 for the team’s academic achievement is something the program is very proud of, not only for itself, but also for the Pitt-Bradford community.
