FORNARI ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT, FINISHES AS BEHREND'S MOST SUCCESSFUL WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

Roz Fornari, the head women's basketball coach at Penn State Behrend for the last 21 years and winningest coach in program history with over 300 career wins, has announced her retirement today.

Fornari, a four-time AMCC Coach of the Year, boasted a record of 347-214 in her career at Behrend. Her 1993-94 team was the first ever to play in the NCAA tournament and two years later her squad won the ECAC South Region championship.

"Coach Fornari has had a great impact on the lives of many of our student-athletes during her long career at Penn State Behrend,"  stated Brian Streeter, Director of Athletics stated.  "She will be missed."

Fornari led the Lions to eight ECAC playoff appearances, five AMCC regular-season championships, three NCAA Division III Tournament bids, two AMCC Championships and one ECAC South Region title.

Fornari has coached 36 All-AMCC players, including three Players of the Year and two Newcomers of the Year along with two Academic All-Americans. In her 21 years at the helm of the program, Fornari's teams have recorded 19 winning seasons.

Streeter will begin a national search for Fornari's replacement immediately.
