After a fan vote on HeroSports.com, Penn State Altoona senior pitcher Kate Burge was selected the Division III Pitching Hero of the Week on Friday.

Burge finished with 156 of the 224 votes cast, winning 69.64% to win the recognition. Her nomination was based on her one-hit shutout of Hilbert College on Sunday afternoon, during which she pitched seven innings and struck out five batters.

The senior right-hander has a 12-4 record this season with a 1.47 earned run average through her team's first 24 games. She has pitched 119 innings and struck out 91 batters.
