BEHREND TRIUMPHS OVER D'YOUVILLE FOR 7TH AMCC SOFTBALL CROWN

Penn St. Behrend is the AMCC softball champion, defeating D'Youville College, 4-0, at Dobson Field.  The Lions will represent the conference at the NCAA Division III tournament at a regional site to be annouced Monday.

The title is the second consecutive and seventh overall for .Behrend.

The match-up featured two of the best pitchers in the league, Behrend's Rachel Miller and D'Youville's Kalie McHenry.  While Miller had just 3 strikeouts, the team's outstanding defense worked to limit the Spartans to just 4 hits and no runs.

The defendng champs struck first, with Behredn scoring two in the second inning.  The Lions added 2 more insurance runs in the 6th inning then shut the door with a 1-2-3 seventh.  Second baseman Katie Gozzard was instrumental in the scoring for Behrend, recording an RBI and a run scored.
