SOFTBALL TEAMS PREP FOR POSTSEASON TOURNAMENTS

The Penn State Behrend softball team will travel to Alfred, NY for the NCAA Regional on May 8-10. The Lions (25-14) will face Rowan (36-6) in the first round on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Behrend won its sixth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Sunday and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history and first since 2012. The Profs received an at-large bid to the national tournament. Rowan is making its 23rd appearance and fifth straight at NCAA's.

Penn State Altoona (25-13) has earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Region Softball Championship. The Lady Lions are the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will travel to face No. 4 seed Stevenson University (19-21) in a first round matchup this Wednesday, May 6 at 4:30 PM.
The Lady Lions were eliminated from the AMCC Tournament last Saturday, ruling out an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament for what would have been the third year in a row. Instead, Penn State Altoona is now able to continue postseason competition in the ECAC Tournament. The team's previous ECAC playoff appearance was during the 2012 season, when the Lady Lions went 1-2 in the South Region bracket hosted by Marywood University.
