AMCC SOFTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: PENN ST. ALTOONA AT D'YOUVILLE

AMCC Softball Game of the Week: Penn St. Altoona Lions @ D'Youville College Spartans @ Mount Aloysius College Mounties (Saturday, April 25 - 1:00 p.m.)

The top two teams in the conference, with identical 12-2 AMCC records, clash this weekend for the AMCC Softball Game of the Week. Both teams are aiming for not only bragging rights, but also the right to host the AMCC conference tournament. The Lions will be looking to get revenge from last year, when the Spartans swept the series 2-0.

Winners of their last nine consecutive games, Penn State Altoona softball (22-9, 12-2 AMCC) is heating up at the right time and is poised for a serious run at a third straight conference title. In addition to their match-up with the Spartans on Saturday, the Lady Lions host conference foe Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday for a doubleheader that will also have plenty of seeding implications for the postseason tournament. Senior first baseman Kelly Chambers is enjoying another standout season at the plate, leading the AMCC in home runs (12), hits (42), total bases (85), and slugging percentage (.895) while ranking second in runs batted in (42) and third in batting average (.442). In the circle, senior pitcher Raychel DeArmitt is second in the AMCC in wins (13) and third in earned run average (1.98) while leading the conference in innings pitched (124.0) and complete games (17).

The D'Youville softball team closes their conference schedule on Saturday against Penn State-Altoona, looking to lock up the top overall seed in the AMCC and host the AMCC playoffs. Holding a 12-2 conference record, D'Youville has won five games in a row and is 16-3 in their last 19 games. Reigning back-to-back AMCC Pitcher of the Week junior Kalie McHenry has been dominate as of late, winning her last five starts and going 5-1 in her last six games. Leading the AMCC with 15 wins and a 1.26 ERA, Kalie has been on a role as of late, winning nine out of her last 10 games. Junior shortstop MacKenzie Kehlenbeck and junior left fielder Lydia Monin lead the team's offense. Kehlenbeck leads the team in homeruns, triples, extra base hits, stolen bases, is second in RBI and is fourth in batting average. Monin holds the team's top batting average while scoring the most runs, recording the most hits and is third in RBIs. Also playing a major part for the Spartans is sophomore Hannah Turek, who leads the team in RBIs, is tied for second in homeruns and is third in batting average. Juniors Lauren DeVantier and Amanda Drake have contributed nicely this season as well. Drake is fifth on the team in RBIs, is tied for second with two homeruns and second in extra base hits. DeVantier posts the second highest batting average on the team and is fourth with one homerun.
