MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY SET FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY SET FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

The AMCC Men's Cross Country Championship race kicks off on Sunday, March 28 at 1:30pm on the campus of La Roche University. Competing teams include Alfred State University, Hilbert College, La Roche University, and Penn State Behrend. Individuals from Mount Aloysius College will also be taking part in the race.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 fall cross country season was postponed to the spring semester. Below is a list of Runners to Watch for the 2021 AMCC Championship.

Alfred State:

Sophomore Gavin Bathgate is the top returning Pioneer runner. He finished 10th at the AMCC Championships in 2019, finishing the 8K course in 26:56.8. As a team the Pioneers finished third overall. He also registered a 21:08.4 on a 6K course earlier in the 2019 season.

Senior Ryan Lohr returns after battling injuries in the 2019 season. He finished 14th at the 2018 ACAA Championships (31:14.6).

Hilbert:

Junior Matt Domagala has been the top runner for the Hawks for the past two years.

Senior Adam Connelly was the first Hawk finisher in last years conference meet and is a tenacious competitor.

La Roche:

Sophomore Andy Domasky won last year's LRU 5k Invitational with a time of 19:15.95 (average mile of 6:12). After his winning performance he was named the AMCC Runner of the Week. He ran his best 8k time (29:09.2) at last years AMCC Championship.

Mount Aloysius:

Freshman Josh Hamilton comes to the Mount from United High School with quite a lot of potential. He had a successful senior year at United, finishing top 10 in his district, and running a 19:01 at the state meet. Hamilton is positioned to be the Mounties' top male runner this season.

Sophomore Mike Nagle is looking to improve upon his freshman season. He was a top-three Mountie finisher in many of the Mountie races in 2019 - leading the way for the Mount at the Westmoreland County Invite – and he looks to be a top-two finisher for them this year as well.

Penn State Behrend:

Senior Phoenix Myers is the top returning AMCC competitor from last season, as he earned All-Region honors in 2019. Myers was Behrend's top finisher at the Gannon/Mercyhurst meet on March 13.

Senior Jake Lehotsky is the second-best AMCC returning finisher from 2019. Lehotsky finished seconds behind Myers at the Gannon/Mercyhurst meet this past weekend.
