BEHREND MEN EARN UNITED EAST MEN'S TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field team had six individual champions and two relay team champions en route to its first ever United East Indoor Men's Track & Field Championship. Behrend head coach Greg Cooper was named the Coach of the Year. Team Scores: 1.) Behrend 216.5 2.) St. Mary's (Md.) 121.5 3.) Alfred State 86 4.) Gallaudet 75 5.) Penn State Harrisburg 54 6.) Lancaster Bible 41 7.) Carlow 15 Senior Samuel Hetrick was the first individual champion crowned, jumping a distance of 6-1 ½ in the high jump. Derek Hillhouse (5-11 1/2) and Odis Florence (5-9 3/4) were also named All-United East, finishing second and third in this event. Kody Klein won two gold medals with times of 2:01.95 and 4:27.97 in the 800m and the mile. Along with Klein, Aidan Domencic finished runner-up in the mile (4:28.80), while Nicolin Pierce (2:02.43) and Aidan Reinsel (2:02.70) recorded second and third-place finishes for All-United East honors. Freshman Odis Florence earned an individual championship with a personal-best time of 8.63 in the 60m hurdles, while fellow freshman Brandon Konieczki scored 20-10 ½ in the long jump for a gold medal. Alex Cotton threw a personal best 50-8 ¾ in the shot put to earn individual champion honors, followed by Dan Dabrowksi's runner-up score of 45-9. The final individual champion for the Lions was Matthew Laslavic with a season-best score of 41-4 ½ in the triple jump. The 4x4 relay team of Hetrick, Jake Walden, Klein, and Egizio ran a time of 3:32.04 for a gold medal, while the distance medley relay team of Reinsel, Dominic MarinoAiden Seeman, and Pierce earned a top of the podium time of 11:26.50. In the 200m, freshman Jake Egizio secured his first collegiate medal, crossing the finish in 22.69 for third place. Bennett Kerr tallied a silver medal in the 5000m (16:21.56) and bronze medal in the 3000m (9:30.32), while freshman Lucas Boyd ran his first podium time of 17:00.17 in the 5000m for third place. Personal records were registered by Konieczki in the 60m (7.14), Emil George in the 5000m, Ryan Visosky in the shot put and weight throw (43-1/37-7 ¼), and Aiden Grieneisen in the shot put (40-6 ¼).

The Alfred State men's track and field team notched a third place finish at the United East indoor track and field championship meet. Mekhi Christensen started the day with a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.03. Then in the 200-meter dash, Nicholas Florczak crossed the line in 23.22 for seventh place. In the 400 meter, Brian Clark came away with a fifth-place finish with a time of 53.03. Mamadou Barry notched a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.86, followed by Eddie Scroxton in fifth with a time of 2:03.39. In the one-mile run, Andrew Zielinski ran a 4:43.26 to claim sixth place, while Maxwell Chiarella finished ninth.  Then in the 3000-meter run, Carter Riley finished ninth. In the final track events, the team of Derek Walter, Scroxton, Barry, and Clark came in third in the 4x400 meter relay. Then in the distance medley, Chiarella, Kyle BrownAiden Bonomo, and Zielinski ran 11:52.41 for third place. Greg Raymond won the weight throw after throwing 13.83 meters. Then in the shot put, Tyler Lantrip threw 11.95 meters to claim eighth place. Aden Alexander came in third in both the long jump and the triple jump, while Isaac Rivet came in fifth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Dylan Cannon would notch a fourth place finish in the pole vault after jumping 3.00 meters

Carlow landed four top-10 spots at the United East Indoor Championship. Bryan Pan was two-tenths of a second from tying his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a fourth place finish of 9.38. He ran a personal best 7.29 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries and placed 11th in the 200. Shajit Pokwal scored points for the Celtics with a fourth place leap of 6.07 meters in long jump and landed in sixth place in triple jump (11.82 meters). Gavin Moore contributed to the overall team score of 15 points with a seventh place triple jump of 11.81 meters.
