FRANCISCAN EARNS TOP SEED FOR MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

The AMCC men's tennis championship tournament opens up this weekend at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA when #1 Franciscan University takes on #4 Pitt-Greensburg at 3:30 p.m. The second semifinal game, between #2 Penn State Behrend and #3 Penn State Altoona, will take place immediately after the first contest. The championship match will be at 11:30am on Sunday, April 22.

Franciscan enters the tournament as the top seed after completing a flawless 5-0 record in conference play. Individually, Baron players did not drop a conference match all season, both in singles and doubles. Leading the way was sophomore Jake Haffner who went 5-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 Doubles with partners Jarek Sulak and Luke Conrad.

#2 Penn St. Behrend went 4-1 in AMCC action, dropping their lone match to top-seeded Franciscan. Two-time AMCC Player of the Year, senior Yanique Apgar, went 3-1 at No. 1 singles and 3-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Scott Russell.  

Penn St. Altoona earned the #3 seed after completing a 3-2 conference record. Leading the Lions was junior Jonathan D'Arcy who went 4-1 at the No. 5 singles spot.

Rounding out this year's tournament field is #4 Pitt-Greensburg. Senior Thomas Clark was the top performer for the Bobcats, earning a 3-2 record at No. 4 singles.
