FRANCISCAN EARNS SIXTH STRAIGHT MEN'S TENNIS TITLE

The Franciscan University men's tennis team tasted victory in the AMCC championship match for the sixth straight year, defeating Penn St Behrend 5-0 on Sunday.

It was the seventh conference title overall for the Barons, who are heading to the NCAA Division III tournament with the AMCC's automatic bid.

Franciscan did not drop a set during the regular season and they continued their mastery of league opponents in the tournament.

John Gallagher and Luke Conrad each put two points on the board for their team.  Gallagher won at both #3 singles and #2 doubles, while Conrad earned victories at #5 singles and #3 doubles.  Rounding out the scoring was the duo of Jarek Sulak and Jake Haffner at #1 doubles.

NCAA tournament selections and pairings will be announced May 6, with first round matches scheduled for May 11-13 at regional sites.

The AMCC all-tournament team will be released on Tuesday.
