The AMCC is embarking on its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 academic year. Since 1997 there have been many outstanding teams and individual student-athletes who have risen to the top of their sports.  We are honored to recognize and highlight some of those accomplishments throughout this anniversary year.

In the past 20 years, Franciscan University, Penn State Behrend, and Penn State Altoona each have claimed five men's tennis titles, with Franciscan winning the past four. 

Penn State Behrend's Elliott Blackstone is the only individual to be named Player of the Year for four consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) in any AMCC sport.  Blackstone shared the Player of the Year accolade as a freshman while also earning the Newcomer of the Year award.  He never lost a match in singles and lost just one match in doubles in four years of conference competition.

Franciscan's Paul Jarzynka was named player of the year in 2013 and 2014. In 2013, he capped a stellar junior campaign which saw him go undefeated at both #1 singles and #1 doubles in conference competition and led his team to the league title. During his senior year, in 2014, Jarzynka went undefeated against AMCC competition in the regular season at both #1 singles and at #1 doubles, leading the Barons to a 6-0 team record and their third AMCC title. 

We are proud to honor the complete line-up of AMCC Men's Tennis Players of the Year from 1997-2016:

2016 – Yanqiue Apgar, BEH - Apgar went undefeated in conference play at #1 singles with a 5-0 record and led the Lions to the AMCC conference championship match.
2015 – Zachary Quiza, FRN - Quiza led the conference at the #1 singles spot with an AMCC-best record of 5-0 during the regular season. Quiza led the Barons at both the #1 singles and #1 doubles positions to a championship finish as the top seed in the AMCC tournament. Quiza was a two-time AMCC Player of the Week and an ECAC South Player of the Week this season.
2014 – Paul Jarzynka, FRN – Jarzynka went undefeated against AMCC competition in the regular season at both #1 singles and at #1 doubles, leading the Barons to a 6-0 team record and their third AMCC title. 
2013 – Paul Jarzynka, FRN - Capped a stellar junior campaign which saw him go undefeated at both #1 singles and #1 doubles in conference competition and led his team to the league title. 2012 – Leonel Lacayo, FRN – Lacayo was a double winner at the AMCC championship tournament at #1 singles and #2 doubles.

2010 – Elliot Blackstone, BEH - Completed an undefeated season at both #1 singles and #1 doubles.
2009 – Elliot Blackstone, BEH - Swept both the #1 singles and #1 titles at the AMCC championship tournament.
2008 – Elliot Blackstone, BEH (CO-POTY) - Sported a perfect record at #2 singles and #2 doubles and was also named AMCC Newcomer of the Year.
2008 – Jake Fleet, PSA (CO-POTY) - Was undefeated at #1 singles all season.
2007 – Scott Shaw, BEH - Went undefeated at #1 singles in AMCC competition.
2006 – Miles Boya, BEH - Boyea won both the #1 singles and #1 doubles titles in leading the Behrend Lions to a runner-up finish at the conference tournament.
2005 – Gary Lyst, Frostburg - Lyst was undefeated in AMCC competition at #1 singles and 5-1 at #1 doubles, winning the conference title in both flights.
2004 – Ryan Deimel, BEH - Deimel, 15-4 overall, was 4-1 at #1 singles in conference play and the tournament champion.
2004 – Gary Lyst, Frostburg - Lyst was undefeated in AMCC competition at #2 singles and 5-1 at #1 doubles, winning the conference title in both flights.
2003 – Justin Stephens, Frostburg
2002 – David Bruno, PSA - Bruno went undefeated in both #1 singles and #1 doubles, posting a flawless 7-0 record in each.
2001 – Gene Cutter, Frostburg
2000 – Gene Cutter, Frostburg
