FRANCISCAN, PENN ST. ALTOONA TO MEET FOR AMCC MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY

Advancing to the AMCC Championship are #1 seed Franciscan University and #2 Penn St. Altoona.

The Barons opened up the semifinals by sweeping #4 Pitt-Greensburg 5-0 Saturday afternoon. Doubles partners and brothers, junior Zack Quiza and freshman Joseph Quiza, teamed up get three of the five wins for Franciscan. They claimed victory at the #1 doubles spot, while also picking up wins at #1 and #2 singles. #2 doubles partners Jarek Sulak and John Gallagher also picked up the win by blanking the Bobcats 8-0. 

In the nightcap, Penn St. Altoona battled their rivals from Behrend to a 5-1 win, with 3 matches left unfinished with split sets.  The Lions' #1 singles player Geoff Ziobinsky got the deciding point in a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 decision over Andre Robert.  Ziobinsky and partner Adam Hack also got a hard fought victory at #1 doubles, 8-6, against Robert and Matt Johnson.

The championship will match take place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Club for Life in Monroeville, PA.
