BEHREND LIONS HANG ON TO AMCC LEAD AFTER DAY 3 OF SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIOSHIPS

After day three of the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships, the Nazareth College women and the Hartwick College men lead all teams, while the Penn State Behrend men and women top the AMCC teams. 

Kicking off the Friday evening session was the men's 400 IM, where Penn State Behrend's Tim Compton took home the gold with a time of 4:01.54, while Hartwick's Tito Boden finished second in 4:10.52. In the women's 400 IM, Alfred State College's Emma Merrick was first with a 4:46.66 finish, with Hartwick's Dani Decarlo coming in second place in 4:47.28.

In the men's 100 fly, Hartwick's Mikey Schultz led the way with a 49:04, while Alfred University's Colby Watkins finished second in 51.58. Alfred State's Ricky Villarreal finished third overall, and first in the AMCC, with a time of 52.33. On the women's side, Penn State Behrend's Jadyn Danylko led the way with a 59.33, while Alfred's Kamila Roman was second with a 1:01.18 finish.

Next up was the men's 200 free, with Nazareth's Ryan Hough coming in first with a 1:42.65 and Penn State Altoona's Adam Marawan hitting the wall second in 1:44.34. For the women, it was Alfred State's Madison Snayczuk capturing the gold with a time of 1:57.95 and Nazareth's Julie Filipski coming in second in 1:58.02.

In the next event of the night, Hartwick's Hassan Abdelwahed led the way in the men's 100 breast by touching the wall in 56.68, while Behrend's Will Perham finished just behind him with a time of 56.74. In the women's 100 breast, Hartwick's Courtney Pierce finished in first place (1:06.75) with Alfred State's Mikaela Snayczuk coming in second (1:07.66).

The men's 100 back came next, with Behrend's Anthony Tumino claiming the top spot in 51.48, and Alfred's Will Lamastus earning the runner-up honors in 52.02. For the women, it was Behrend's Camryn Watters who set a meet record with the top time of 57.70, while Nazareth's Isabella Jaskowski was second, finishing in 1:00.53.

Next came the men's 1m diving finals, as 2023 NCAA All-American Conor Compton of Alfred State once again claimed the men's diving title, this time with a score of 518.95. Hartwick's Jack Armstrong finished in second with 439.06 points. 

The final event of the night was the 400 medley relay. In the men's race, Penn State Behrend's Glenn Fowkes, Will Perham, Tim Compton, and Anthony Tumino earned first place honors by finishing in 3:25.15. Second place went to the foursome of Will Lamastus, Wade Lamastus, Colby Watkins, and Emmanuel Drappatz of Alfred, who combined for a time of 3:27.48. On the women's side, the Alfred State team of Alyssa James, Mikaela Snayczuk, Mallory O'Keefe, and Madison Snayczuk finished in 4:01.63 for the gold, while Nazareth's team of Isabella Jaskowski, Julie Filipski, Grace Cioffi, and Caroline Coleman earned a second place finish in 4:03.93.
