BEHREND MEN, WOMEN TAKE OVER AMCC LEAD AFTER DAY TWO

With day two of the 2024 Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships in the books, the Hartwick College men and Nazareth College women sit in first place overall. The Penn State Behrend men and women lead the way for the AMCC teams after two days of competition. 

Thursday evening started out with the men’s 500 yard freestyle, with Penn State Behrend's Tim Compton taking first place with a time of 4:37.40. Penn State Altoona's Caden Traggiai earned the runner-up finish with a time of 4:39.85 with Hartwick's Cameron Drake rounding out the top three with a 4:40.66 finish. In the women's 500 free, Hartwick's Ellie Baird took the gold with a 5:13.10, while Alfred State's Alyssa James was second with a time of 5:15.93. 

In the men's 200 IM, Hartwick's Mikey Schultz hit the wall first in 1:53.61, followed by teammate Hassan Abdelwahed who finished in 1:56.29. Rounding out the top three was Penn State Behrend's Will Perham, with a time of 1:56.63. On the women's side, Nazareth's Julie Filipski earned first place with a time of 2:10.26, while Alfred State's Mikaela Snayczuk was second with a 2:12.47 finish.

Nazareth's Ryan Hough took first in the men's 50 free, touching the wall in 20.71, with Penn State Behrend's Anthony Tumino coming in second in 20.95. For the women, Alfred State's Madison Snayczuk came in first with a time of 24.78, with Penn State Behrend's Cameryn Watters in second place just behind her, in 24.81.

In the women's 1m diving, Nazareth's Alexa Rizzo took first place with 486.75 points, while teammate Lizzy Tripp came in second with 451.35 points. Penn State Behrend's Lauren Stephens came in third place with 372.00 points.

Ending day two of the Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships, was the 200 yard freestyle relay. For the men, Penn State Behrend came out on top as Anthony Tumino, Evan DelSignore, Jax Abele, and Dan Tanaskovic combined for a time of 1:25.48. Penn State Altoona finished in the runner-up position, as Lincoln Johnson, Adam Marawan, Rocco Solimeo, and Adam Dotts finished in 1:25.77. On the women's side, Alfred State took first place, as Madison Snayczuk, Gabriela Leite, Mikaela Snayczuk, and Mallory O'Keefe finished in 1:38.97. Nazareth took second place, with Julie Filipski, Amy Barry, Ellen Burroughs, and Caroline Coleman combining for a time of 1:39.78
