ALFRED STATE MEN CLAIM ALLEGHENY-EMPIRE SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Alfred State College men's swimming and diving team claimed the overall title at the Allegheny-Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet for the second straight year.

Alfred State’s Westin Perry earned the first place finish in the men’s 100 yard freestyle with a time of 45.56. Pioneer diver Conor Compton was the top diver in the men’s 1m, receiving a high score of 488.95.

The Pioneers also received second place finishes from Avenn Toledo in the 1650 freestyle (16:44.38), Rafael Kowal in the 200 yard backstroke (1:53.94), and Luca Aldewereld in the 100 yard freestyle (46.17).

Other first place finishes on the day include Pitt-Bradford freshman Conan Young, who was the top finisher in the 1650 freestyle (16:20.23), Penn State Behrend’s Will Perham, who clocked in first at 2:06.49 in the 200 yard breaststroke, and Hartwick College’s Mikey Schultz who finished the 200 yard butterfly in 1:51.00.

Alfred State junior Westin Perry was named the AMCC and the overall Swimmer of the Meet, while Pioneer freshman Conor Compton was named both the Diver and Newcomer of the Year. Alfred State head coach Isabel Mariotti was tabbed the men's overall Coach of the Year, while Penn State Behrend head coach Jennifer Wallace was named AMCC Coach of the Year.
